So I know that this article is, like, a year old, but I looked at your last scenario (the Ronin who doesn't want any part in the Alliance/Horde) and thought it sounded like a good plan. So... I thought about it some more. I created a Draenei DK, because they seemed the most detatched from picking sides (they're with the Alliance because that's where they crashed, and because the Horde had BElves and Orcs - not because they actually think the Alliance is awesome), and I started levelling.

A friend who was levelling a bit above me tried to not turn in the quest, and found that she was Silenced and Pacified - no attacking, no spells - you can't even Death Gate back to Acherus. I was disappointed, but when I got to that point, I... couldn't make Klarah go in. I just couldn't. It was so antithetical to how I'd created her.

So I ran to Westfall, on the off chance that maybe once I was out of Elwynn, I could go about my business.

Lo and Behold, I could!

So now my goal is to level her to 80 (a feat I have yet to achieve on any toon) or whatever the level cap is when I get there, and only THEN let her take that quest.

http://ordinarygirl.dreamwidth.org/312738.html That's sort of my rational and summary of what I think. It's going to be interesting, to say the least. Especially since I am NOT on an RP server.

I know my question might be a bit strange, but I still have to ask it as it is something I've been curious about for some time.

What would the draenei view be on the different mage specialisations?

Somehow I constantly get the impression that the arcane spec is the purest one.
Would there be such a thing as a preferred hierarchy in the arts of magic for draenei magi?

My issue with this could be the result of people constantly trying to force me to play arcane while i've always been in love with fire - have therefore become to regard myself as a slightly stubborn rebel when it came to my choice.

But it keeps nagging at me that this idea of a hierarchy may have no basis roleplay wise, so here I am to ask you fine folk what you think...

*waits impatiently*

Comment on Theme Week Draenei: Age, Maturity And Experience by Han

Have to say that I agree with the two last posts. In my opinion, draenei mature reasonably fast compared to their life span. Does not necessarily have to take them centuries and centuries before they mature. And in all honesty, roleplaying anything below the human age of 15 does look really odd. Just go stand next to an orphan...

I don't know exactly know how to fit this in, but I feel it's important to note that time should be looked at as relative when rping your race.
What I mean by that are the attitudes of different races toward the concept of time itself - not necessarily maturity. Even for humans we are aware that you don't have to be old to be considered mature, as has been pointed out. But what about time itself?

For a human, battles and everyday life holds more interest than it may for a draenei.

I almost sometimes see my draenei character as she watches the little things in time fly by her - she, unlike her human and mortal counterparts being more able to see things in a larger time frame, or the big picture if you will.

Both immortality and mortality have their positive and negative sides when it comes to roleplay. I find this is often neglected with the draenei, though some people do focus on it when playing elves.

Ok, I'll post this now...see if someone has any oppinion on it.

Still cannot get an idea of how old my draenei is, but yeah...who would count centuries. And...a lady never tells anyways. *winks*

Now, I haven't been much of a RPer since my main characters are on regular servers, but at one point I did have a troll rogue on an RP server that was about level 20 and I didn't play her much any more, so I deleted her so my death knight could have the name.
This was my first death knight, mind you. I recreated her with the same looks and name as my rogue. When I came to the part where you had to slay one of your own, it gave me chills. Up until that point it was just a new character, and then when I had to kill poor Iggy it was like I connected with my old rogue while my character connected with her past life.

I have a fairly unique hunter character: she's a young draenei who joined the Darkmoon Faire, and she is (err, will be - right now she's a level 4 "dancer") a "monster tamer" - someone who tames things like core hounds, outland chimeras, and other exotic things for the purpose of "behold, the terror of outland... NURAMOC!"-esque lines. Basically she's like a lion tamer - but more fantasy.

I play a blood elf death knight who falls best into the seeker category. He kinda thinks he's a paladin of the light (he doesn't really understand how he got his free will back, and assumed it was the light at the chapel), to the point where he has not only renounced all unholy abilities (including raising a ghoul) except death strike and death grip, occasionally forgets he can't ressurect people (being reminded of this makes him very moody) or bless them (he's a scribe to make up for this). He gets very wierd looks when he says things like "Light bless you, child", or goes all awe-struck at a naaru or a famous paladin's grave, or gets his nose bent out of shape, so to speak, at his fellow blood elves abusing the light...
He mostly spends his time hunting demons, crusading (running instances like strath), or just hanging around the chapel in the plaguelands.
He's also very much an argent dawn person (he had nobody to follow and was drifting alone at sea - naturally he latched onto the first organization he could find, which was of course, the dawn). This leads to him also being a fairly unique (at least on my area of the server) "I don't care about Horde Vs. Alliance, we can all serve the light" voice.
He's my favorite character for the irony and novelty, and the fact that he's also a bit of a comic relief character.
Hope something I said gives someone else some ideas for spicing up their DK, or that they just enjoyed the reading. XD

What is most fascinating in the quests of the Undead is that they really mention that they will tell about you to their superiors. They always explain in a subtle way why and how you are getting reputation. You would never notice if you weren't paying attention.
